RUS101 Conference & XZbit Program

Monday morning, Mr Syed Mohd Bakar was invited to open our exhibition ceremony. Before the ceremony start, he gave a short talk.

About 10a.m exhibition started and below were the things being exhibit.

There was a dome tea session for us after the exhibition. Everyone was enjoying the food and drink.

Some of them were enjoying their food inside the big dome^^

After that, there were 10 presentations from different major chosen by Mr. Wan. Every group have their own tittle and was done well.

Dome day

Sunday, 24th Oct, early in the morning we gathered at HBP bamboo site to build up a big dome by using those struts we have cut and screwed. With the construction given, the dome was in shape within one hour although the height was still not yet reach to the maximum height.

In the middle of building up the dome, somehow one of the strut at the most upper part slided out. Luckily no one get hurt. While the process was going on, i saw two persons were knocked by the bamboo, luckily, they weren't hurt badly.Mr. Safwan was screwing up the struts.

At 12pm, we were given a rest and Dr.Illias gave everyone a treat for lunch at Subaiday. However, i din get to enjoy my lunch together due to the performance at night. It was really a great job done by all of us!

Dome redo ==

Right after cleaning up studio 100, i went to the site to redo my struts and this was the third time i did it again. The second time was done on Friday evening but failed. Here go the process.

During the process of making 2 new struts, i got some help from friends and we help one another to complete it as everyone was so tired to repeat the same activity again and again.
Finally, here are the products^^ Really appreciate those friends who did the bamboo together and i was really happy after getting its done. yeah~
Evening, came to the site again to test my struts in order to screw its.

Dome assembly

On 23rd Oct, Saturday morning 9a.m, 5 people of every section were chosen for cleaning up the studio for Monday exhibition. After discussing for a while we moved out all the dome first and started to arrange the table to the back. Everyone was very cooperative.

After arranging all the tables nicely, we moved all the assignment products to one side tidily.

Finally, everything was nicely arranged.

Tensengrity

A new assignment again-tensengrity! New and have to cut the bamboo again~ the picture of cutting bamboo is with my friend there.hahaa..

Doing the assignment with my friend, Tay Suet Ching since this project need other people hand to hold it while i'm tiding up.

10-Closing box

A total of 21 A4 size papers were printed out for the "closing box" assignment. In order to give out the message i had edited its before print its out.

The huge box was folded up before pasting all those A4 size photos. Pasting process...

8B-Report for Assignment 10:Box

This time, we were asked to make a big pentagon box. On the surface of the box, we have to decorate it with our photos of the assignments we did before. Out of ten assignments we will only choose five that we think are the best and the one we learnt most. It will deliver the messages to tell other about our life in HBP during 1st semester.

Three of us, Suet Ching, Syntze and i share a photo copy of the box structure as it is expensive. With experience, Suet Ching darken the base part of the paper by following the shape so that we can trace it on the card board. So smart~haha..

The box is really big that i could actually sit on the card board to draw and cut it into shape that i wanted.

Jump for 2012

Today, our studio master, Mr. Wan gave a talk in RUS101 lesson, explaining the BIG Prototype assignments we did are the collective efforts to realize USM’s Vision of Transforming Higher Education for a Sustainable Tomorrow. It is really a big assignment that I ever did before. The height of the BIG dome is about 8m! Every first year students are involved and many were thinking of impossible when looking at those bamboos including me. But after listening to what Mr. Wan talked, I realized that one should learn to sacrifice themselves willingly for oneness to complete a big project, together to make a the change and lead for a better tomorrow.

There are 7 APEX points which stand by The Future, Uniqueness, Sustainability, Humanity, Universality, Change and the last and most important is Sacrifice. Bamboo has contained all the six points and the last point is the determination point that drop on us whether we are willing or not to sacrifice to achieve a change together.

Awakening is important to open people mind in facing 2012. Do you think that you are awake? The quickening of the world had make a new earth for the people, living a comfort life and take it for granted. Thus, a transformation should occur. The choice is depend on one, the spiritual in one lead to the choice making and hence come to an answer. What the answer will be? Harmonies? Peace? Or sorrow? The action decides everything. One should follow his/her heart to move, a heart to call to come together and awakening as one.
